In a total of 36 votes, Manoj Sonkar secured a decisive victory with 16 votes, including the crucial support of ex-officio member Kirron Kher MP. The INDIA bloc candidate, Kuldeep Singh, managed 12 votes after 8 were deemed invalid.
This electoral clash holds immense significance as the INDIA bloc, through the AAP-Congress alliance, aimed to challenge the BJP’s dominance in the mayor’s office. The alliance strategy involved AAP aspiring for the mayor’s position, while the Congress aimed for senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor roles.

Raghav Chhada while giving his statement said that BJP tried to buy the workers of Aam Aadmi Party and Congress.

Raghav Chadha asked to take the strictest action against it and also asked how to do it on the presiding occasion and said that such parties and such people should be boycotted from the country.

Senior Congress leader Pawan Bansal ji also strongly condemned this and said that this kind of action of BJP is very condemnable and we will not accept it at all. We will raise our voices against it and face it firmly.

The results of the elections in Chandigarh have been declared today in which BJP won by 16 votes out of 36 votes and Aam Aadmi Party got 12 votes out of which 8 of their votes were declared invalid due to which there is an uproar outside and Aam Aadmi Party.
The supporters of Aadmi Party and Congress Party are very dissatisfied and very unhappy and they are even talking about going to the High Court. They are saying that this is the goondaraj of BJP and they will not let it work.
